- When does the building start?
Your Project Manager will give you notice when we are submitting the working drawings to council for consent. We look to have a builder on site within 4 weeks of the building consent being issued from council.
- How long will the construction of my new house take?
The build time varies depending on the size and type of house under construction. Your sales consultant will be able to give a general outline from the very start and our construction team will provide actual dates as the process moves along.
- What happens at the handover?
This is an exciting day where all of your planning and forethought comes together. Our Project Manager will meet you at the house to go over the warranties, guarantees and regular maintenance for your home. We will point out where the switchboard and water feed are, change alarm codes for you and answer any questions you have about specific fittings in your home. Keys will be handed over and Masterbuild guarantee paperwork signed off.
- Do Horncastle have a book of standard plans?
Horncastle have a database with thousands of plans, as each section is a different shape with a different orientation we find the best approach is to have one of our architectural designers put together a custom plan that suits your needs. We take time to discuss options and a brief of what things you want to see in your home.
- Do Horncastle provide finance for the build?
Horncastle Homes do not provide mortgage facilities; however we have strong relationships with many banks and mortgage brokers.
- Do Horncastle include warranties with their home builds?
All our homes are built with a Registered Master Build 10 year guarantee included, which gives peace of mind that there is a guarantee separate to Horncastle Homes. We do our very best to ensure clients are happy with their new homes and offer a 90 day maintenance follow up along with a 12 month check.
- What do Horncastle include in the purchase price for their homes?
At Horncastle we strive to be honest with our customers and avoid ‘surprise costs’ as much as we can. You will receive a full specification sheet, listing all the inclusions in your home and we will take time to ensure you understand exactly what we have included. As a general rule, all of the things we know and expect will be needed for your home, are included in our quotes.
- Do I need a Geotech report for my section?
In most cases, a site soil test is all that is required, this can be completed by an engineering company. Depending on how strong the ground is and what layers of soil/clay/gravel there are will determine what type of foundation is required. We have a number of structural engineers we consult with and can give a great deal of assistance.
