This week I was fortunate enough to catch up with a good friend of mine and I think one of Christchurch’s wise men, Dave Lewis of DA Lewis & Co. who seems to have been in business for as long as I can remember. What a great outlook he has on life! He’s the first to admit that life is about experiencing up’s and down’s and he has experienced the lot, especially just lately with his health. Yet he remains absolutely positive about life and business. Naturally our conversation got around to the real estate market and he remarked that “So what if house prices drop 5-10%, people have had enormous gains in the last 4-5 years and people need to realise that if they are buying or selling today they are doing so in the same market so what difference is it going to make.” I have heard this before but I think some people need to be reminded of this fact. And I loved his comment that “you can’t import land from China so it isn’t going to get any cheaper” How true is that!! So the opportunity of paying only a 5% deposit on a property in St Peters Place and no further payments until the house is completed has to be appealing don’t you think? I’m tempted myself.
